A Pumpkin in Turkey

No, I am not going to talk about stuffing a turkey with pumpkin. I’m
writing about a restaurant in Göreme, Turkey called Pumpkin Göreme Restaurant
and Art Gallery. Dinner in this cave-strewn landscape in Cappadocia became a
delightful treat.

Enticed by Istanbul

Many months ago Judy and I decided to start our six-month adventure in Turkey and developed an itinerary to work our way across Europe. So, we flew from Philadelphia to New York, New York to Paris and then Paris to Istanbul.

We discussed the recent bombings and unrest in the world but decided that fear was not going to stop us. We’d be mindful and hope for the best. Besides, who can predict when or where the next violent rampage might happen in the United States.

Turkey Leftovers?

Got leftovers?

On Thanksgiving I cooked a 22-pound turkey for my fourteen guests. We did a good job of consuming most of the bird, but leftovers are inevitable and I think desirable. This year I tried a new soup recipe; one that I found in my newspaper supplement: American Profile. The Southwestern spice appealed to me and gave a completely different flavor than the usual day-after Thanksgiving meal.
